Memphis Belle Cadet Corps

Inspections serve as an opportunity for cadets to learn attention to detail and self-discipline. Since the Civil Air Patrol wears an Air Force style uniform, cadets are taught to have pride in their uniform and to wear it properly.

Cadets are taught drill and ceremonies, which promotes teamwork and discipline. These skills are utilized heavily in the field and on Search and Rescue missions. Cadets also utilize these skills as they promote through the rank structure and take on different leadership positions.

Memphis Belle Memorial Squadron's cadet program is rich in history. For many years cadets have received training here, which has prepared them for entrance into service academies, military service, careers in aviation, and many other jobs.

Civil Air Patrol, as a whole, offers more than $200,000 in college scholarships each year, and about 10 percent of each year’s freshman class at the U.S. Air Force Academy is comprised of former CAP cadets.

Cadets have the opportunity to attend many different activites, from local, to state, and even nationally held training schools. Every year Tennessee Wing cadets gather for the state encampment which lasts for 7 days. At the encampment cadets are taught leadership and teamwork skills, and are also offered many tours and classes from military units.

Cadets can enjoy overseas travel through the International Air Cadet Exchange, and CAP families can welcome foreign exchange students into their homes here in the states.

CAP cadets are given the chance to work their way up into different leadership positions, where they are taught how to work with other people, how to plan and organize activities, and ultimately how to command the cadet program as a Cadet Commander.
